Healthy Eating Agent Academy HEA
2
Background Kids in our country need your help! Some families don't know how to make healthy food choices leaving them unhealthy and weak. Our country's First Lady is sending the country on a mission to try and fix this. Check out our partner in this mission http://www.letsmove.gov/learn-facts/epidemic-childhood-obesity This is coming all the way from the White House. But she needs your help to gather intelligence and present her and our school with your findings. Our country needs us! http://www.letsmove.gov/learn-facts/epidemic-childhood-obesity Continue... First Lady, Michelle Obama

Your Mission Mission, collect data on our eating habits, find out what we should be eating, pinpoint our weaknesses, come up with a meal blueprint of how we can become heavy hitters in the challenge to get America healthy, spread the word to other potential healthy eating agents and be ready to brief them with the findings of your hunt. By the end of this academy, you will be ready to be a Healthy Eating Agent. Please view the Evaluation Page to read our expectations for you. Go to Evaluation Page. After reading, continue to Phase 1.
4
Your Orders Phase 1 Your first mission is to gather information on your own eating habits. Go to http://csis.pace.edu/~dsachs/foodlogwk.html and print out the page you find. Take this paper home because you will need it over night to record your data. You must complete this phase of the mission within 24 hrs from....now! By lunch time tomorrow, be prepared to report back your findings. Be as detailed as possible, include what you ate and how much you ate, don't leave anything out! Good luck! http://csis.pace.edu/~dsachs/foodlogwk.html STOP here. When you return, you will be ready for the Phase 2 Slide.

Phase 2 Congratulations on completing Phase 1. Use your completed food log to point out any weaknesses you may have. To do this, locate a food pyramid. After you find the pyramid, find out how many servings of each group we are supposed to have per day.http://www.choosemyplate.gov/supertracker-tools/daily- food-plans.html and http://www.nourishinteractive.com/nutrition-education-printables/92- food-groups-teaching-kids-healthy-eating-portions-serving-size-handoutRecord this on your paper next to the servings that you had.http://www.choosemyplate.gov/supertracker-tools/daily- food-plans.htmlhttp://www.nourishinteractive.com/nutrition-education-printables/92- food-groups-teaching-kids-healthy-eating-portions-serving-size-handout Compare the results and record at the bottom what your strengths and weaknesses were in choosing what you ate. Write down 3 ideas explaining how you can make a better choice next time. Remember to be honest, we are trying to get healthy! Head over to these websites to play a few games and learn a bit more! http://healthysocial.org/foodherogame.html http://www.freddyfit.co.uk/kids/games/lunch-box-maker.php http://www.foodnme.com/what-food-am-i/ STOP. You have done enough work for today. Rest your mind. You will need it for PHASE 3 tomorrow.
6
Phase 3 Congratulations on completing Phase 2. Your next assignment is to use what you have learned about the Healthy Eating Mission, food pyramid, food log, and the comparisons you made yesterday in order to create a menu for a school in need. Go to http://www.healthychoices.org/index.php?page_id=28 and find, save and print Activity 2. This menu must: -Include both of your names -Include breakfast and lunch, you don't have to do dinner. -Meet the food pyramid and serving suggestion standards -Be ready to share this with the class by Phase 5 http://www.healthychoices.org/index.php?page_id=28 STOP. Use the rest of the class to complete the menu with your partner. Phase 4 is tomorrow.
7
Phase 4 You are now entering Phase 4. Your missions is to research ways students can make healthy choices at home, where they can find healthy food, things to avoid, and how they can help spread the word on the importance of healthy eating! Identify and describe 3 suggestions. Record your findings on a piece of paper. http://www.letsmove.gov/action http://school.fueluptoplay60.com/tools/nutrition- education/view.php?id=23945657 http://school.fueluptoplay60.com/tools/nutrition- education/view.php?id=23945657 Be prepared with ideas to share with the class tomorrow. STOP. After you research, prepare yourself for presenting to the class tomorrow.
