Water range depths range from 150 m to 4500m over relatively short distance Geo-morphological diversity Important hydrocarbon production zones. Important hub of global shipping Fishing – nurseries, breeding grounds and spawning site Reef-forming deep-sea corals like Lophelia Pertusa Original Celtnet designed to study carbonate mounds and coral reef systems of the Belgica Mounds, sponge ecosystem of the Phaeronema Belt up to Hovland Carbonate Mound, Goban Spur and various canyon systems as well as PAP site.

No statutory obligation at the moment to monitor to the degree envisaged by ESONET. INSS – substantial high-res mapping of wide areas of Irish EEZ

5-7 Oct.2009All Regions Workshop #2 Within the Porcupine node, the PAP site is an established time-series site with over 20 years of repeat sampling and with a fixed-point mooring in place since 2002.
