Definition of Emergency Manager Emergency management is the managerial function charged with creating the framework within which communities reduce vulnerability to hazards and cope with disasters. Emergency management seeks to promote safer, less vulnerable communities with the capacity to cope with hazards and disasters. Emergency management protects communities by coordinating and integrating all activities necessary to build, sustain, and improve the capability to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from threatened or actual natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or other man-made disasters

My Definition of an Emergency Manager Someone that is able to reach out to key stakeholders in the community. To develop and maintain relationships, know what resources are available and bring the stakeholders together.

Regional HUB Reception Center Planning at Valparaiso University Brought many Agencies together including EMA, Red Cross, Police, EMS, Fire, United Way, Mental Health, University Administrators

All Hazards Risk Assessments Cindy Rolli from Tetratech organized onsite visits with Emergency Managers and Stakeholders

NMETS Kits Were Distributed To All 5 Counties District 1 Task Force including All 5 Counties Along with the District 1 Hospital Group, Local Emergency Planning Committees and Private Sector are Planning a Full Scale Exercise in the Fall of 2014 where an NMETS Kit will be deployed to test Evacuation

Regional Animal Services Plan RCPT Conducted a Workshop in Michigan City Indiana Regarding the Plan. Elijah Hunter, Animal Control for Michigan City is very involved in the Program and Assists in Reach Out to make sure Key Stakeholders are included.
