Vasona … The EMC Application An Overview
2
Overview History Overview and functionality Future Developments
3
History Vasona has been developed during the last 20+ years of EMC testing and development. After using other commercially available packages it was obvious that they do not provide the necessary functionality to effectively test to the wide range of EMC standards.
4
Functionality, Basic Tests Radiated Emissions Radiated Immunity RF Conducted Immunity RF Conducted Emission Other measurement techniques required to operate effective EMC laboratories
5
Examples of other functions Measurement processes, manual to complete automation NSA (typically 30MHz-1GHz) Insertion loss measurements (using signal generators, reference sources or tracking generators) Functionality to allow simple confidence check measurements Amplifier linearity checks Audio measurements, SPL and Voltage (CISPR 24) Preselector control Tower/Turntable speed control Transducer factor, simple data reduction
6
Non-std Advanced Features Network storage of factors files, equipment drivers and templates Storage of confidence check results on the network for simple recall and trend analysis Auto update of all network factors Email of test results Email of run time problems Radio measurements Traffic generator monitor (bit errors etc) Simple cable replacement
7
Typical Test Standards 47CFR15 GR1089 CISPR22, CISPR11, CISPR13… EN55022, EN55011, EN55013.. EN50130-4, EN60601-1-2... IEC/EN61000-4-3, IEC/EN61000-4-6 from low frequency - 40GHz using chambers, OATS, FAR, FSOATS … and other suitable facilities.
8
PC System Requirements Windows application, separate tests can be run/opened in each window. Win2K, WinXP or WinVista, National Instruments Card (IEEE488), Serial Port, Parallel, USB This is a large application which does need a higher power PC. It can operate on very slow PCs but it does distract from test operation
9
Supported Equipment Agilent/HP 856x, 85xx, 444x (pres), 740x, 441x, 43x, 837xx, 83650, 85310, E825x, 8673 Rohde & Schwarz FSEK, ESCS, ESAI, ESHS, ESMI ESVS, ESCI, ESU, FSP, ESI, SMx, NRVS Sunol, EMC Test Systems, HD Field Probes AR6001, AR5000, AR5080, WG, HI4455, HI6105, HI6005 Amplifiers, IFI and AR Switch drivers, HP Drives can be changed by the users, signal source drivers are simple to develop
10
Report Output Standard Vasona Print Out HTML Output Text File (to be used for import into word) GIF Graphical Output (to be used for import into word and for HTML)
11
Future development Further amplifier control Above 1GHz SVSWR measurements Additional traffic generator control Additional receiver sweep capabilities Other equipment drivers
