What we did in class today: Tuesday 3.20.12
Reviewed parts of the atom and periodic table concepts from yesterday. Reviewed states of matter and phase changes Used models to review pure substances and mixtures.
2
Entry Task: Complete the following entry task:
Draw a diagram of the atom and label the Nucleus Protons Neutrons Electrons Energy levels valence level nucleus electron Valence energy level neutron proton
3
Review from Mon. 3.19.12 Parts of the Atom Proton= +
Neutron = 0 charge Electron = - 1st Energy level can hold 2 electrons Valence can hold 8 electrons.
4
Use the Periodic Table to determine the elements
Use the Periodic Table to determine the elements. Remember, that the number of energy levels tells us the Period /Row and the number of Valence Electrons tells us The Group/Column # (1,2,13,14,15,16,17,18)

Pure Substances and Mixtures Models
Review Activities States of Matter/Phase Changes Pure Substances and Mixtures Models Clear off your table top. Lay out the sheets of paper. You should have 3 elements, 2 compounds and 2 different types of mixtures. Follow the directions to build the models and place them on their correct sheet. Answer the questions on a separate sheet of paper. Don’t forget to put the title and your name. You have 15 min. to complete the task. You’ll watch a Brain Pop clip and then complete the worksheet. Write your answers on a separate sheet of paper. If you finish early you’ll finish work from yesterday.
