1 Grade 4 Music Class Parent’s Day 2015 Rob Phelps & Jenny Pan

2 From South Africa Graduated with an English Literature Degree. Currently completing a Master’s degree in TESOL. Earned a CELTA (Certificate of Language Teaching to Adults) from the University of Cambridge Second year at Guangren

3 Graduated with a Middle Eastern Studies degree. Earned TEFL Certification from Columbia International University with over 200 guided teaching hours in Jordan and Israel. Currently completing a Master’s degree in TESOL Moved to Taiwan five years ago with my wife. Second year at Guangren.

6  Students will express themselves verbally and via the written word  Encourage students to become independent English readers and learners in the future  Maximize opportunities for students to listen and speak English

7 Students will have a great deal of opportunity to speak English. By sitting in small groups students will engage each other in English in such a way that will help them to improve together. Picture association and physical response will help to develop positive language learning habits. A friendly, conversation based class atmosphere will ease the stress students feel engaging a new language.

8  Warm up period where new vocabulary is introduced and discussed.  The topic is introduced via an activity  Champ Listener/Storyfun/Write Right  Lesson review

9 Making mistakes during class will not be penalized and is encouraged. WWe are focusing on listening and speaking Effort 20% Class Participation 20% Worksheet/homework 10% Writing 10 % Exam 40%

10 Building positive habits is beneficial to acquiring and retaining a new language. By treating English as a source of fun or entertainment students may develop their listening and speaking skills. This can be achieved with English books they enjoy reading, television, movies or even video games during leisure time. Encourage students to share what they have learned about in class.
