Falls Trips and falls are the number one cause of accidents in the classroom. Falls are one of the most common accidents anywhere!

Chair Safety Never lean back in a chair--you could do a “sitting back flip.” Never roll your chair around the classroom--you could do a “moving back flip.”

Proper Posture Back straight Elbows close to your sides Wrist low but not touching the desk Feet flat on the floor Fingers on home row keys Eyes on your copy

Emergency Evacuations FIRE DRILL (18) Lights out Chairs under desks Take personal valuables Quietly walk rapidly, do not run 100 ft from building Form 1 single line Return when told to do so

Emergency Evacuations EARTHQUAKE DRILL Trembling and shaking of the building signaling the movement of earth’s crust Follow all instructions Stay quiet and take cover under your desk Duck and cover Evacuate building when told to do so

Emergency Evacuations TORNADO DRILL Follow all instructions from your classroom teacher Take the duck and cover position facing a wall directly outside the classroom

Emergency Evacuations LOCK DOWN PROCEDURES (Code Red) Quickly clear the hallways Lock doors Move all students away from the windows Cover the glass panel in your door Turn off the lights NO TALKING!

Safety Activity Keyboarding / BCAPP / BCM Students will create an informational poster that demonstrate how GAT promotes a safe, productive, cooperative, learning environment. Construction paper, crayons, markers will be available for your use. Please clean up you area before you leave. Project due END OF NEXT CLASS
