What is the impact of the Prioritized Curriculum on DCAS? Current Delaware Comprehensive Assessment System (DCAS) Test Specifications are based on the Prioritized Curriculum Standards and Grade Level Expectations (GLEs). DCAS will only assess the GLEs that were coded Essential and Important by Delaware Educators in 2009. 2

What is the impact of the Common Core State Standards on DCAS? 2010-2011: There will be no impact on DCAS during the academic year. 3

June 2010: Comparison of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Delaware Standards in Mathematics and English/Language Arts using the Achieve Comparison Tool. Summer 2010: Analysis of the results of the Comparison Tool to identify areas of overlap and gaps. What is the impact of the Common Core State Standards on DCAS? 4

Timeline 2011: Item development for DCAS will begin to address the gaps between the CCSS and the current DE Prioritized Standards in mathematics and reading. 2011-2012: Embedded field testing of these newly developed items begins. 2012-2013: Items flow into the DCAS Item Bank for potential use. 5
