Stretching Since the importance of stretching was covered in a previous lesson, I will have the students stretch out in the beginning of class.

3 Lap Run After the first few classes I will increase the amount of laps from 2-3

Cardio cardiovascular fitness is the efficiency that your heart, lungs and organs to consume, transport and use oxygen
5
Group activity Each group will come up with two different exercises that will enhance cardiovascular fitness level. Once each group has come up with two exercises, they will then trade papers with another group. Now each group has exercises drawn up by their peers. It is now their task to try and complete the exercises and deem if they in fact test your cardiovascular fitness.

Strengthening muscles Since strengthening muscle is no easy task, and these students are fairly young, they need incentive to perform as hard as they can. To make sure this happens, the next activity will be a solo where every student is competing against each other. The competition will consist of three events, pushups, sit ups and pull ups. Each student will have one minute to do as many pushups as they can, then number of sit ups in a minute and finally how many pull ups in a minute. The winner will be determined by cumulative score of each of the three events.

Capture the flag The activity I have planned for today is capture the flag, but with a twist. In normal capture the flag, once you go to jail you can’t leave until someone from your team comes and retrieves you. My version of capture the flag will correlate to yesterday’s lesson of muscular strength. To play we will need two gym mats, two flags, and colored jerseys to decipher teams. When an individual gets caught on the other side of the line, they must go to jail, which is the universal capture the flag rule. In today’s version, when you go to jail, you must complete ten pushups and twenty jumping jacks before your teammates can come bail you out. We will have a best out of three series to determine the winning team. Following the game conclusion, we will stick to the routine of stretching. Today’s lesson was a valuable one because it incorporated exercise and fun, which gives the students more incentive to work hard.

Relay Race I will show a video of the summer olympics, particularly the relays so the class knows what a relay race entails. I then set up cones in order to create a circular track inside of the gymnasium. Each relay team will consist of 5 members. The first person on each team will run the baton around the track and hand it off to the next person in line, etc. The first team to have all five runners finish win the relay race. This sort of activity will give the students a firsthand experience of why muscular endurance is important.
