2. Hazard
A hazard is a situation that poses a level of threat to life, health, property, or environment.
Inadequate hazard recognition has been identified as one of the main causes of incidents within the oil and gas industry.

3. Recognition and Identification
Take a systematic application of the Hazard Identification Tool to help reduce incidents caused by inadequate hazard identification.

4. Gravity
Falling object, collapsing roof and a body tripping or falling

5. Motion
Vehicle, vessel or equipment movement; flowing water; wind and body positioning when lifting, straining or bending

6. Mechanical
Rotating equipment, compressed springs, drive belts, conveyors and motors

7. Electrical
Power lines, transformers, static charges, lightning, energized equipment, wiring and batteries

8. Pressure
Pressure piping, compressed cylinders, control lines, vessels, tanks, hoses and pneumatic and hydraulic equipment

9. Temperature
Open flame; ignition sources; hot or cold surfaces, liquids or gases; steam; friction; and general environmental and weather conditions

10. Chemical
Flammable vapors, reactive hazards, carcinogens or other toxic compounds, corrosives, pyrophorics, combustibles, oxygen-deficient atmospheres, welding fumes and dusts

Animals, bacteria, viruses, insects, bloodborne pathogens, improperly handled food and contaminated water
