Facts On Global Warming http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/12/1206_041206_global_warming.html Average temperatures have climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit. The rate of warming is increasing. The 20th century's last two decades were the hottest in 400 years and possibly the warmest for several millennia. The Arctic is feeling the effects the most. Average temperatures in Alaska, western Canada, and eastern Russia have risen at twice the global average.

Facts On Global Warming http://www.dosomething.org/actnow/tipsandtools/11-facts-about-global-warming With the start of industry in the 1700s, people began giving more fossil fuels from coal, oil, and gas to run our cars, trucks, and factories. There is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today than at any point in the last 800,000 years. Consequences of global warming include drought, severe hurricanes, massive fires, and melting of the polar caps In the last century, sea levels rose roughly 7 inches. Sea levels rising are an effect of global warming and put many states at risk of existing in the near future.

Hydro power! Another type of hydroelectric power plant is called a pumped storage plant, it can store power. Hydro power is a good renewable energy to use. Hydro power is when water runs through the dam into the spinning turbines to generate electricity. Hydroelectric power generates about 10% of the nation's energy. Hydroelectric Power

Pros of Hydro Electric Power Hydro eclectic Power doesn’t use fossil fuels, so it is saving some of our energy. does not release any toxic chemicals in the atmosphere and nor does it create any harmful byproducts. A hydroelectric power installation can be beneficial for fish breeding Hydroelectricity power stations have a really long life, they can generate electricity for many years. Also, the large volume of water in the reservoir often serves the purpose for recreational activities such as water sports, which makes the location a tourist spot as well. http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/rea/tech/hydropower

Cons of hydro Electric Power One of the major cons of hydroelectricity is the need for a large enough reservoir. Constructing a large reservoir is a major challenge, both in terms of time and money. Also, it often involves relocation of families who happen to be residing in the area that has been approved for the construction of the reservoir. http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/rea/tech/hydropower
