AN INDUSTRY BLUEPRINT The creation of a multi purpose trade occupational licensing body replacing the BSA. A one stop shop for licensees. The Queensland Building Commission. The board is drawn from industry representatives. The Commission has industry sub-Commissions. Building Industry Commission Plumbing industry Commission – Responsible for occupational & contractor Licensing, including plumber, drainer, fire, roof plumbing, refrigeration mechanics and gas Electrical Safety Office.

ELECTRICIANS INSTALLING SOLAR HOT WATER SYSTEMS THE BSA POSITION

The BSA WILL - Amend the ACT allowing electricians to contract for the installation of solar water heaters. States – that licensing should not be a barrier to red tap reduction or an artificial barrier to competition. States – that the changes will not impact on the plumbers equality in contracting. States – They cannot guarantee licence creep by electricians

ACCELERATED APPRENTICSHIPS The federal Governments view The overarching aim of the initiative is to support a systemic shift to competency-based progression and completion in vocational education and training with a focus on Australian Apprenticeships. The initiative aims to achieve this by supporting industry to develop and implement innovative strategies that embed and further the reach of competency-based progression.
