One important example from the short story is the young man committing murder against the old man because he dislikes his eye. He kills him due to a physical characteristic. Another example is the young man’s insane mind also motivates him to admit his guilt when he thinks he hears the dead man’s heart beating underneath the floor. He confesses his crime without saying a word in front of the police who are questioning him. These are some important examples of the motivation behind the young man’s actions in the short story “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe.
