NEHTA’s Purpose To lead the uptake of e- health systems of national significance; and coordinate the progression and accelerate the adoption of e-health by delivering urgently needed integration infrastructure and standards for health information.

Getting the Sector Connected Over the next 2 years the sector will be supported in taking up a common approach to secure online connectivity Based on internet standards and secure authentication Vendors can be certified, so providers can buy software with confidence Incentives are provided to help GPs with the burden of upgrading NEHTA will have connectivity projects with every State and Territory

e-health and nursing Increasingly health information will be electronic Nurses will need skills to access and use this information Nurses can help refine and develop e-health solutions Adopt ‘e-health compliant’ IT systems (ask NEHTA)
