Although it is not a lettuce, kale grows in a similar way. Kale is fresh year round because it can handle cold temperatures, while many other crops cannot. You just need one small seed– the size of a tiny pin head - to grow an entire plant. Kale is a member of the brassica family which includes collard greens, brussels sprouts, cauliflower and broccoli.
