In Georgia, there are only 40.7% of schools that require their students to take 2 or more health education courses. About 17% of children and adolescents aged 2-19 are obese. Strategies for parents: Make sure your child gets physical activity every day Serve water instead of sugar drinks to your family Serve healthier foods at dinner. Give plenty of fruits and vegetable and less foods that are high in fats and sugars Limit your kids to 1-2 hours of media per day

Strategies for communities: Put salad bars in schools Create and maintain safe neighborhoods and create improved ways to parks and playgrounds for kids to have physical activity Expand programs that bring local fruits and vegetables to schools
