What is M.A.P. ? Missouri Assessment Program Given to all students in grades 3 – 8 for Math and Communication Arts Given to all students in grades 5 and 8 for Science

Why M.A.P.? To ensure all students are learning the intended curriculum To ensure that all schools are teaching the required curriculum To guide instruction for teachers Assess Life Skills

When is M.A.P.? Communication Arts test sessions will be given on April 23, 24, 25, and 26. Each session will be approximately 1 – 2 hours long. Math test sessions will be given on April 30, May 1, and 2. Each session will be about 1 hour long. All sessions will be given in the morning.

How to help: Fresh air and exercise Healthy dinner the night before At least 9 – 10 hours of sleep Healthy breakfast Stress free morning before school Discuss a time you’ve taken a big test and coping strategies you used. Ensure your child it is okay to feel nervous.

Strategies to relieve nerves: Taking a deep breath in. Slowly breath out. Clench your fists and toes. Count to 5. Release. Do it again. Close your eyes and imagine a happy place. Remember, it is normal to feel nervous about a big test. You are not alone!

When answering multiple choice questions: Read the question carefully. Read it again. Eliminate any answer choices that are obviously wrong. Reread the text, searching for the answer or clues to the answer. Fill in the circle to the correct answer completely. Be sure to stay in the lines.

When answering constructed response questions: Read the question carefully. Read it again. Reread the text, searching for the answer or clues to the answer. Underline it. Write your answer by restating the question, give your answer, and support your answer/thinking with information from the text. This should be written as a complete sentence. Hints: Make sure you answer all parts of the question. Read over your answer to make sure it makes sense.
