A centre of expertise in digital information managementwww.ukoln.ac.uk What Happens Now? Days of growth have ended Web services will develop but with serious constraints One of the most important things now is your professional social network: use the next 3 days to develop it! IWMW 2010 can help you to explore these issues Make sure you prepare yourself for the future
33
A centre of expertise in digital information managementwww.ukoln.ac.uk How IWMW Sees Its Role Premier event for members of UK HE institutional Web teams Provide a forum for discussion, debate and sharing of best practices for supporting HEIS in provision of institutional Web services. Ensure institutions are well-positioned to exploit innovations which can enhance their services. Provides a forum for JISC-funded developments to be shared across the community and for feedback to be obtained. Provide a cost-effective national service for the Web management community across UK HE sector. 33 Feel free to give comments on IWMW 2010 blog
34
A centre of expertise in digital information managementwww.ukoln.ac.uk But What of the Future? Possible that cuts and changing priorities could see the sustainability of IWMW questioned Should we: Stop doing it? Reduce length of event? Run it as a virtual or hybrid event? Allow commercial providers to provide alternatives? Look for new business models (e.g. greater sponsorship – the ‘Netsoft lecture’)? Please tell us what you think during the event
