3 3 Prehistoric Peoples Donald Johanson- discovered a hominid skeleton that lived approximately 3.2 million years ago He named the skeleton Lucy after the Beatles song, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” Lucy belonged to a group called Australopithecus, or “southern ape.” Evidence suggests that Lucy spent most of the time walking upright.
