1 Title I Annual Parent Meeting MK Rawlings Elementary Thursday, August 14, 2014 6:00 pm Ms. Rebecca Moore

2 Title I Budget Rawlings Elementary is provided $253,440.35 to pay for services and programs for our students. The Title I Parent Involvement budget is $4,500.00 Below are some examples of how Rawlings uses their Title I: Student Agendas Additional staff Technology Student Supplies Family events and materials Tutoring Enrichment Teaching Resources

3 Title I Budget Parents can assist in deciding how to use Title I funds…you have the right to be involved. All Title I schools must maintain documentation that demonstrates parent input into their budgets and plans. Every school has a School Advisory Council (SAC) composed of parents, teachers, other staff members, and administrators. Input from the Principal, the School Advisory Council, parents, and the school’s staff determines how to allocate or use Title I funds.

4 Parent’s Right to Know As a Title I parent you have the right to be involved in the development of the following plans and documents for our school: School Improvement Plan (SIP) Compact Parent Involvement Plan (PIP) for the school and district request and attend meetings to express your opinions and to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to the education of your children, *Please review these documents and attend meetings or complete surveys to share your input…we need and want you to be involved.

5 Parent’s Right to Know Be provided information on your child’s level of achievement on assessments in Reading/Language Arts, Writing, Mathematics, and Science Request and receive information on the qualifications of your child’s teacher and paraprofessionals that are working with your child Principal’s attestations Be informed if your child is taught by a non-highly qualified teacher for four or more consecutive weeks.

6 School Public Accountability Report Card (SPAR) School Public Accountability Report (SPAR) provides parents and the community with important information about each public school Demographic data School safety and climate for learning information Academic data Graduation rates Class sizes Teacher and staff information Curriculum and instruction descriptions Postsecondary preparation information Available at the school office or online at http://doeweb-prd.doe.state.fl.us/eds/nclbspar/index.cfm

7 Working together! Title I law requires that all Title I schools and families work together. How we work together is listed in our: School Level Parental Involvement Plan (PIP) Parent-School Compact School Improvement Plan (SIP) Parents can also read the District’s Parent Involvement Plan (LEA PIP) at www.pcsb.org under Title I.www.pcsb.org Copies of all of these documents are located in our Title I binder, in the front office, and are located on our school website.

8 Parent Involvement Requirements It is important to receive input from our parents We invite parents to join our PTA and our SAC meetings During these meetings we ask for your help and support with Our School Improvement Plan Our Parent Involvement Plan Yearly updates to our compact Allocations for our Title I budget Meeting dates and times for these meetings will be located in our monthly newsletters and on our school website.

9 Parent-School Compact Every Title I School has a Compact. It is an agreement between the parent, student, and school to encourage the highest student achievement Please review and sign your child’s Compact, then return it to your child’s teacher.

10 Convene a Title I annual meeting to inform parents about Title I requirements and their rights to be involved in the Title I program. Offer meetings at flexible times to maximize participation Provides parents of Title I students with timely information about Title I programs. Assists parents in understanding academic content standards, assessments, and how to monitor and improve the achievement of their children. Provides materials and training to help Title I parents work with their children to improve their children's achievement. Parent Involvement Plan Requirements

11 Title I Parent Binder You will find a copy of our School’s PIP, the School District’s PIP, Parent’s Right to Know Memo, Upcoming Events, Compact, and additional information for parents regarding Title I in a binder in the front office.
