How Could God Love Someone Like Me? From Fear to Faith - Lesson 2

How does sin spiritually paralyze us? Can it shackle us with guilt?

A Vicious Cycle ✤ Human perfection is simply not attainable ✤ Satan tempts us ✤ We compare ourselves to others ✤ What are they doing that I’m not? 2 Corinthians 10:122 Corinthians 10:12 ✤ Everyone succumbs to sin. Romans 3:23 Romans 3:23

Three Things We Can Do With Sin ✤ We can resolve to never sin again. ✤ Impossible! ✤ We can let sin make us a coward. ✤ Like Judas ✤ We can learn from our sin. ✤ Like Peter

Forgiveness is Not a One Time Event ❖ Hebrews 7:25 - there is no one beyond God’s power to save. Hebrews 7:25 ❖ 1 John 1:8-2:3 - Jesus is our advocate. 1 John 1:8-2:3 ❖ As long as we confess our sin, and seek God’s forgiveness, we can be assured that we remain in good favor with God!

Our God Does Not Give Up On Us ✤ What is the viewpoint many hold toward the Father? ✤ What is the viewpoint many hold toward Jesus? ✤ God is patient and wants us to achieve the highest possible good.

2 Corinthians 10:12 ✤ For we are not bold to class or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves; but when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding.

Romans 3:23 ✤ all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Hebrews 7:25 ✤ Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

1 John 1:8-2:3 ✤ 8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. ✤ 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ✤ 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. ✤ 1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; ✤ 2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. ✤ 3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.
