Were you surprised at all of the components and energy needed to make burgers? Much of the ingredients rely on carbon which can be wasted into the atmosphere. All this waste was just to produce burgers, think about what the waste will be on a bigger scale!!
5
Why is carbon important? Carbon is the basis of all organic molecules. It makes up our genetic material (DNA and RNA) and proteins, which are essential for life. Carbon is so special because of its ability to bond to almost any other molecule. The major element within our bodies is carbon.

Green Schools NEW SCHOOL buildings will only receive government funding if they are designed to produce no carbon footprint. The experiment, which would promote designs with wind turbines, solar panels and low-energy lightbulbs, could lead to 2,000 carbon neutral schools and a reduction of 8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide. With schools contributing around 15 per cent of the public sector's carbon footprint, the Government has been keen to make sustainability central to the BSF programme.
