3 Risk Management The process of measuring or assessing risk and then developing strategies to manage the risk Questions to consider What could possibly go wrong? How could it happen? What action could we take to prevent it happening?

6 Risk Management Practices for Coaches 1. Adequate supervision 2. Proper instruction 3. Sound planning 4. Warning of dangers 5. Provide safe environment 6. Teach rules of sport (especially safety) 7. Evaluate athletes for injuries of limitations 8. Group athletes properly 9. Ensure counselling and info on drug use is available 10. Keep up to date with current practices in coaching 11. Supply appropriate first aid
