Coaching is coming back Valuable investment for teachers and administrators who lack time and support Due to initiatives such as the common core standards, districts need more support to transition smoothly (DeNisco, A., 2015)

Discussion Question What are some other ways instructional coaches can be used to help teachers and administrators? How can and do instructional coaches impact the teaching and learning in their districts?

Leading - Transformation Thoughts?

Teacher Buy-In “I began to see that I could solve almost any instructional problem if I had someone to help me think about it through a coaching conversation” (Morel, N., 2014). Trust between teachers and coaches Coaches need to be well-respected, highly accomplished and experienced

Discussion Question How can a teacher benefit from becoming an instructional coach or working with an instructional coach?

Coaching – School Transformation “…views teachers, principals, and all the adults who work in schools as capable of changing practices” (Aguilar, E., 2013). Need to address social, emotional, and learning needs of adults who work in the school before we can address the needs of the students (Aguilar, E., 2013).

Inspiring Others Think of someone who has influenced you…. What makes certain leaders and mentors unforgettable?

Discussion Question Is instructional coaching right for you and your district? What are challenges to teachers becoming instructional coaches? Other questions?
