Historical Context –Global Problems (Rob L.) Historical Context: Many global problems affect the world today. Task: For each global threat identify one cause and one result of this problem. AIDS Terrorism Famine Destruction of the rain forest Desertification Nuclear Proliferation

AIDS This is a very serious disease that has grown from 2005 to more than 40 million people infected with this S.T.I This is more than double the number was in 2005 as shown on http://globalhealth.org/view_top.php3?id=227 http://globalhealth.org/view_top.php3?id=227 Most of the people with HIV are currently living in Africa or developing worlds Financed by a $19.5-million, five-year grant from the National Institute of Mental Health, the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Center will be staffed by researchers and physicians from UCSD, the San Diego Navy hospital and the San Diego Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Terrorism Terrorism is people who try and get there way by bringing fear in to the hearts of children and adults by extremists following there beliefs of osama binladen on the 9/11 attacks This cause many people to be afraid to take planes sacarie masonry helped plain the 9/11 attacks and is now sentenced to life and as he said when convicted “you lost America”.

famine Famine is when people starve to death Many people are losing there children or parents do to hunger This is a big problem for countries such as Africa witch contains many countries that do also Ireland had a potato famine

Destruction of the rain forest Rainforests once covered 14% of the earth's land surface acre is lost every second with horrible consequences http://www.rain-tree.com/facts.htm Brazil is considered the lungs of the earth The main blame for this is industrilization

Desertification Some of the worlds greatest deserts were formed through this process all naturally This problem has become or has been known about since the 1930’s In the last 25 years the satilites have been monitoring the Desertification process

Nuclear Proliferation This word in layman's term is simple the spread of nuclear weapons This is a very big problem cause a weak country gets one or more of these we have a problem because even through there weak they can still become a threat The first time used was in wwII on Japan To stop the treats in 1957 united nations is made
