S C 5 RUMOR: All Computer Science jobs are going offshore … Outsourced to India, China, Philippines, etc.
6
S C 6 FACT: Forrester Research, Inc. estimates that only 4% of all Information Technology (IT) jobs were outsourced in 2004. This will grow to only 16% by 2015. The jobs that are being outsourced typically involve low level skills (data entry, data analysis) or repetitive tasks (writing yet another hospital records system). Purdue University Computer Science graduates do neither low level nor repetitive tasks. They design innovative systems, create operating system security mechanisms, design new programming environments, create new wireless protocols, etc.
