We are also learning to use an excellent online resource called “Stemscopes” which will be something you and your child can use together at home to review concepts covered in science class..Please call the Marion office to leave a Maverick Mail note if you need to get a message to your child regarding how he/she is getting home. Homework: Monday: Reading/Science Tuesday: Writing & Math Wednesday: None Thursday: Writing & Math Friday: None Read for 20 minutes every night! We are going to be doing lots of reading this year! The first few weeks of school will be dedicated to setting up procedures for Readers’ Workshop, reviewing how to choose “just right books”, and learning the characteristics of different book genres. Reading Rocks!! Students should bring a water bottle with a sports top to school each day. This cuts down on the amount of time they miss instruction for water breaks, and keeps spills to a minimum.

2 Classroom/Home Technology Connection In this section of our 4 th Grade Newsletter, the teachers will be adding helpful websites and apps your child can use at home for extra practice. Be on the lookout for new additions! Writing: www.chompchomp.c om – this website offers extra grammar practicewww.chompchomp.c om Science: STEMscopes login -- this online resource will contain activities specific to your child’s current unit of study. This is a great way to review at home what was covered at school in science class. Math: Think Through Math is the main resource we encourage students to use to practice math concepts and the process of problem solving. Within the next few weeks, your child’s Math teacher will send home login information for this site.
