4 types of sentences: Imperative Exclamatory Interrogative Declarative

The speaker gives a command or makes a request. Most imperative sentences end with a period. A strong command ends with an exclamation point. (You) Be quiet during the play.

A sentence that shows excitement or expresses strong feeling. This type of sentence will end with an exclamation mark. I love Auburn football!

Interrogative sentences ask questions; you will always use a question mark. Will you please be quiet?

The speaker is making a statement and ends with a period. I want to go to Colorado this winter.

1. Imperative: Be quiet during the play. 2. Exclamatory: I can’t wait until Saturday! 3. Interrogative: Can I borrow a quarter? 4. Declarative: I need to go to the store after school.
