Find and mark 10 errors in the paragraph below. Number each and write only the correction on your BR paper. When you think of earth quakes in the United States, do you usually think of the western states. That don’t mean earthquakes do not happen in the eastern states. On August 31 1886, the first major eastern earthquake was recorded it hapened near Charleston, South Carolina. The charleston earthquake was not the first eastern earthquake, but it was the worse. Other earthquakes be recorded in the eastern United States as far back as 1638.

Phrase – a group of words that form a meaningful unit within a clause Clause – a group of words that contains a subject and a predicate; may be part of a sentence (subordinate) or a sentence (independent)

Part 1: ◦ Complete the handout “Phrases and Clauses.” Part 2: ◦ On a separate sheet of paper (you will turn this in later, so it needs to be a separate sheet other than your BR paper), go back to Wednesday’s BR response. Rewrite the paragraph so that it includes at least one of each sentence type: declarative, imperative, interrogative, and exclamatory.
