1 A detailed, systematic spatial assessment of coastal habitat, critical natural resources, and associated human uses in the tidal waters and near-shore area of Marylands coastal zone. The link between our terrestrial-aquatic systems that helps target conservation and management. Blue Infrastructure – Near shore Assessment

2 Blue Infrastructure Coastal-Zone-wide Blue Infrastructure Priorities A detailed spatial evaluation of coastal habitat, critical natural resources and associated human uses in the tidal waters and near-shore area of Marylands coastal zone. Assessment that incorporates estuarine priorities into TEAs and complements land-based networks

3 Blue Infrastructure Assessment – Charles County Charles County has the highest BI near- shore values in Marylands entire coastal zone. These are found in western Charles County in the Nanjemoy area along the Potomac River. Charles County also has a number of high- priority BI watersheds located along the Mattawoman, Nanjemoy and Popes Creeks and the Patuxent and Wicomico Rivers areas. These high-quality BI values are representative of the diverse aquatic and near-shore resources in the County including fish spawning, SAV, lower impervious surface levels, sensitive species, waterfowl areas, unique benthic habitats and important intact forest and wetland habitats.
