3 Desert Habitat and map Where deserts are The world's largest desert is actually the continent of Antarctica it is the world's driest place. It receives less than two inches of precipitation annually. Antarctica is 5.5 million square miles in area.

4 Description of Deserts Deserts have highly varied landscapes Sand covers 10 to 20 percent of most deserts Scientists do not agree on a single definition for deserts

5 Desert Climates Most deserts near the north and south poles are so cold that moisture freezes

6 Average temperature of deserts

7 Jumping cholla Jumping cholla- Its thorny branches break off easily and cling to people and animals that walk by. The spines may cause painful wounds

8 Mesquite A group of thorny low shrubs that grow in dry climates It needs little water and its long roots burrow deeply to obtain moisture

9 Palo verde A thorny tree that grows in dry regions It grows from 15 to 30 feet

10 Desert marigold Yellow plants considered herbs Native to North America Grows to ½ to 1 ½ feet tall

11 Blister beetles Blister beetles are insects Their size may vary from 3/8 of an inch to 1 inch Blister beetles are gray,black and yellow Blister beetles are omnivors Blister beetles survive almost anywhere

12 Shrimp The shrimp have 2 fellers on its head. It has 5 very delicate legs. Some shrimp can grow up to 9 inches long.

13 Shrimp The shrimps diet is based on a critter called plankton. The shrimp is an omnivore.

14 Shrimp The shrimps life is very difficult it lives in water like ponds,rivers,and much much more!!! The shrimp lives in Texas,Louisiana, Florida,Mississippi and in the Desert.

15 Vulture Vultures live in the desert and some of them live in Florida and other states. Vultures are 66 to 81 centimeters long and 26 to 32 inches long.. The vulture can cool it self down in the desert

16 Vulture A vultures food is dead animals like mice, and rabbits it is actually called a carrion. Turkey vultures look like a turkey.A turkey vulture is also a predator.

17 Bobcats The bobcat got its name for its short tail The bobcat can live in swamps deserts forest and mountains It is a mammal It eats rabbits birds rodents They can survive in hot areas

18 bobcat They make their homes in dense and fallen Bobcats can live to be 25 Bobcats like to live in woods or grassy areas They usually live alone a territory that is from 5-50 miles long Adult bobcats are 30 to 45 in long Bobcats fur is red orange with black spots.

19 Red salamander It is red with dots all over it. It is 2-5 inches long. It eats bugs like spiders, beetles, cockroaches, flies and more.

20 Red salamander It likes the sun. It survives the heat. The Red salamander lives in the eastern united states.

21 Rattle snake A rattle snake are a reptile because it lays eggs. There are many types of rattle snakes such as Ridge nosed rattle snake, and side winder, and the northern pacific rattle snake.

22 Rattle snake A rattle snakes are predators. They are omnivore they eat rodents and lizards. Rattle snakes can detect odours with there tongue. Rattle snakes live in dry areas.

23 Rattle snake rattle snakes live in the south western united states and northern Mexico. Rattle snakes tails are made of dried skin that is why they make the cool noise.
