Introduction to weather Aim: Develop a knowledge and understanding of the difference between weather and climate. By the end of the lesson I should: Draw and interpret a climate graph. Compare and contrast different climate graphs within the UK.

Introduction to weather Now read pages 4 and 5 of the Interactions text book Make a poster showing how latitude, distance from the sea, prevailing winds and relief affect climate

Introduction to weather Draw climate graphs for Dunstaffnage and Leuchars weather stations using the data below. Can you explain why it is milder and wetter in the west in summer? Can you explain why it is colder and drier in the winter in the east? Remember that rainfall is shown as a bar graph and temperature as a line graph.

People and the weather Aim-Understand the effect of weather on people. In Pairs produce a spider diagram to show all the ways that weather influences people.

Measuring the weather Know the weather elements, instruments and measurements.

Using textbooks, investigate the name of each instrument and explain what each instruments measures and how it works.

–Computers are used to send information from weather stations both at home, abroad and from satellite. This allows the information to be accurate and to be passed to the met. office quickly. –Computers are also used to make weather maps (synoptic charts). This allows them to be printed accurately and quickly.
