10 Vocabulary Have a look at these sentences from the listening. Think of a different way to say the underlined words and phrases. 1.It wasn't a very glamourous job, but I really wanted it. 2.Every day I would run a laser light show, and once I was through with that I would give museum tours. 3.I had a lot of people yelling at me for different reasons and always misunderstaning the situations. 4.After six months I quit the job. 5.All the leftover bread, we could take home to our families. 6.Sometimes I got to dress up as Chucky.

11 Grammar Examine the grammar in the following sentences from the listening: Tres: …every day I would run a laser light show, and once I was through with that I would give museum tours. Kate: … I would go to the bakery and sell the bread to the customers. Mark: I would dress up in a big mouse costume and go around entertaining little kids.

12 Grammar Answer the following questions: Do the speakers talk about their present jobs or their past jobs? Do they have the same jobs at present? Do they speak about their regular duties or about things that happened only once?

13 Rules You can use „used to / would“ if: a) you talk about the past b) you talk about a regular action, a habit or a permanent state c) the situation in the past is different from the present situation You can use „used to“ for all verbs. You can use „would“ only for active verbs.
