5. TIMELINE CONTD.  APRIL 21, 2006: Jawad al-Maliki (Shiite) is chosen as prime minister  NOVEMBER 5, 2006: Saddam sentenced to death by hanging for crimes against humanity (1982 killing of 148 Shiites in the city of Dujail.)  DECEMBER 30, 2006: Saddam executed.
