Happy Monday Return Quizzes Return Chapter 6 part 1 tests Go over Quiz
Hand out Intervention Letters Signed letters due BY Wednesday
2
Warm ups Convert to Slope-Intercept form: 3x – 2y = 12 x + 3y = 6
Answers: y = 3/2x – 6 y = -1/3x + 2 y = -2x – 16 y = x + 2 y = -5/2x + 7/2
3
Convert Slope-Intercept to Standard
Objective: To convert a linear Equation from slope-intercept form to standard form. Standard 6.0
4
Standard Form Ax + By = C Rules: A is positive A,B,C are whole #s
No fractions/decimals
5
Example 1 y = 2x + 4 -2x -2x -2x + y = 4 -1 -1 -1 2x – y = -4
Convert the equation to standard form: y = 2x + 4 -2x -2x -2x + y = 4 2x – y = -4 *To make A positive, divide (or multiply) everything by -1
6
TOO y = 4x + 6 y = -3x + 4 Convert the equation to standard form:
Answers: 4x – y = -6 3x + y = 4
7
Example 2 y = -4x + 2 5 +4/5x +4/5x 4x + y = 2 4x + 5y = 10
Convert the equation to standard form: y = -4x + 2 5 +4/5x +4/5x 4x + y = 2 4x + 5y = 10 (5) (5) (5) *To get rid of the fraction, multiply everything by the denominator.
8
Example 3 m = 3/2 b = 12 Write an equation in standard form:
y = 3x + 12 2 -3/2x -3/2x -3x + y = 12 -3x + 2y = 24 3x – 2y = -24 Plug into y = mx + b (2) (2) (2) *To get rid of the fraction, multiply everything by the denominator.
9
TOO y = 1/2x – 3 y = -1/2x + 5/3 m = 3/2 b = 12
Convert the equation to standard form: y = 1/2x – 3 y = -1/2x + 5/3 m = 3/2 b = 12 Answers: x – 2y = 6 3x + 6y = 10 3x – 2y = -24
