3 8th Grade Core Values Our goal is to participate in a motivational, enjoyable learning environment that will promote respect for all members. The 8 th grade believes in responsibility, knowledge, and working towards each individual’s full potential.

4 8th Grade Core Values The teachers at CMS are committed to promoting academic excellence by: Communicating with students and parents Requiring and maintaining high expectations for student achievement, responsibility, and conduct Promoting college and career readiness while incorporating 21st Century life skills Maintaining an engaging and enjoyable learning environment

5 Policies and procedures School day 7:43am-2:35pm –building open at 7:30am Late arriving students must sign in at the office Call school office to report absences prior to 8:00am Notify school of any planned vacations/absences All visitors must report to the main office and sign in Medication given at school must have a MEDS A Form completed

6 Policies and procedures No spaghetti-strap tops or shirts with open backs and low necklines including racerback tops or A-shirts. Entire middle of the body must be covered: No underwear visible at any time. Pants are to be worn at the waist. Pants should not have see-through areas above the knees. Hats, caps, visors, bandanas, hoods (covering the head), or other head coverings in the school building should not be worn. A “line” running from one armpit to the other will be the guideline to determine low necklines. Shorts, skorts, or skirts that do not extend past the student’s fingertips when their arms are extended down at their sides should not be worn. Additionally, students should not wear sheer leggings or tights, or shorts worn with clothing that does not extend past the fingertips. Central Middle School Dress Code Shoes must be worn at all times.

7 Bring your own device Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Devices include but may not be limited to: smartphones, tablets, eReaders, laptops, and netbooks. With teacher approval, students may use their devices in the classroom to access and save information from the Internet, collaborate with other learners, and utilize productivity tools available to them. The school is not responsible for these items if they are damaged, lost or stolen. Additionally, at no time may a student use said devices in a bathroom or locker room.

11 Naviance delivers easy-to-use research tools that help students assess their areas of interest and learning styles and then helps match them to appropriate college and career options. With Naviance, students, families, and counselors can develop comprehensive roadmaps for student success that allow schools to create individualized course plans for students, facilitate the college application process, survey students, and report and track the outcomes of their entire student population.
