WHAT IS AMNESTY? Amnesty International (AI) is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognized human rights

INSPIRE HOPE! Sudan : In March, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 1593, referring the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Darfur, Sudan to the International Court of Justice

INSPIRE HOPE! Brazil: Success for human rights campaigners Elma Novais: her son was killed; she was threatened for trying to press charges against her son’s murderers. Thanks to the support of AI’s members, the killers were punished

INSPIRE HOPE! Morocco/Western Sahara: Prisoners of conscience pardoned Ali Salem Tamek was freed after being imprisoned for 2 years for writing a critical article against the monarchy. Thanks to AI’s members support, he received a royal pardon
