How To Get Legal Experience Explore law-related work w/your current employer Consider moving to a full-time job at a law firm Explore a summer sabbatical/leave of absence Use vacation time to attend conferences/CLEs Extern for a judge this summer or next year Be a research assistant to a professor Join a law journal or participate in moot court Consider limited projects for solo practitioners/small firms – find through networking Write articles on legal topics – work with practitioners Volunteer on weekends/breaks or on projects you can do online (Illinois Legal Aid Online)
