MISSION STATEMENT Our mission is to provide guidance to the entire Boston College community with regard to the rules, regulations and standards which mandate integrity and fair play in all our affairs. Above all else, we exist to promote and protect the health and well-being of our Student-Athletes, our Department of Athletics and the Institution.

OFFICIAL VISIT POLICY Boston College will conduct all recruiting activities in accordance with and in compliance with all conference, University, NCAA, state and federal rules and regulations Coaches are responsible for: selecting student hosts that will follow official visit policies and provide a positive experience for the recruit. for instructing assistant coaches and student hosts about what types of behavior and activities are appropriate and inappropriate. Prospects are required to read and sign a Prospect Instruction and Agreement Form prior to initiating the visit. Student hosts are required to read and sign a Student Host and Agreement Form prior to receiving host money.

OFFICIAL VISITS PROCEDURES All forms must be turned in at least 5 business days prior to the start of the visit Approval Form Be sure the prospect has registered with the NCAA Clearinghouse Meal Plan Form Ticket Request Game Day Parking Request Student Host and Prospect Forms Must be turned in within 5 days of the completion of the visit. Failure to turn in is a violation of recruiting policy Student Host must sign form even if not providing entertainment money Parking Gameday passes should be picked up in the Compliance Office

PLAYING AND PRACTICE Countable Athletically Related Activities – CARA Include any required activity with an athletics purpose involving student-athletes and at the direction of, or supervised by one or more of an institution’s coaching staff (including strength and conditioning staff) and must be counted in the weekly and daily limitations Administrative activities (e.g., academic meetings, compliance meetings) shall not be considered CARA.

PLAYING AND PRACTICE REMINDERS: During the Playing Season A maximum of 20 hours a week of CARA A maximum of 4 hours a day of CARA (except competitions) All CARA is prohibited one day a week (travel day may count as day off as long as no CARA) Practice may not be conducted following a competition All student-athletes must undergo a medical exam prior to any practice, competition or conditioning activities

PLAYING AND PRACTICE REMINDERS: Outside Playing Season – sports other than football Weight training, conditioning and skill instruction is permitted starting the first day of classes until one week prior to the start of final exams. Such activities will be limited to eight hours a week. Skill Instruction with more that four student-athletes is permitted from Sept. 15 thru April 15. Limited to 2 hours a week within the permissible 8 hours for CARA Baseball – Sept 15 thru one week prior to final and Jan. 15 thru April 15.

PLAYING AND PRACTICE Cara Logs Procedure The following monthly logs must be submitted to the Compliance Office at the conclusion of each month during the academic year: Team Countable Athletically Related Activities Individual Countable Athletically Related Activities The forms need to be signed by a coach AND a student-athlete Both forms should be submitted regardless of whether your are in your championship segment or non- championship segment

PLAYING AND PRACTICE Cara Logs Procedure Counting Hours for Forms Team Countable Athletically Related Activities Each day should list the separate activities conducted: Example: P – 2, W – 1, M – 1 = 4 hours Individual Countable Athletically Related Activities Each student-athlete needs to have a record of the CARA for that day Just put the total number for the S/A that day

REMINDERS Be sure to sign the Certification for Compliance Form Pick up your 2007-2008 NCAA Manual GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON!!!
