10. DIVISION II REQUIREMENTS NCAA Division II schools:  Fewer sports (Cal Baptist, Cal State LA, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Dominguez Hills)  Fewer full scholarship awards  Most award is met with various institutional aid  Athletics funded by campus like academic depts.

11. Division II Requirements  Complete 16 Core Courses  Graduate from High School  Present minimum 2.0 GPA (2018-2.2GPA)  Achieve combined SAT score of 820 or ACT sum of 68

NAIA Schools (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) Now require students to register through their website at www.playnaia.org Registration fee is $70 Scores need to be sent directly to NAIA from the testing agency by using code 9876 High School Graduates will be eligible by meeting two of the three requirements listed below: 1. Have a minimum 2.0 GPA 2. Score 18 on ACT or 860 on SAT 3. Graduate in the top 50% of their class

15. Division III Students must meet the school’s entrance requirements Research the exact school for their specific entrance requirements Division III institutions do not give athletic scholarships students are awarded based on their academic accomplishments.

16. Community College If Students do not meet NCAA or NAIA eligibility requirements Attend Community College first and transfer

17. What Now? Determine what schools meet your academic and athletic requirements Contact those coaches via email Don’t be afraid to “brag” coaches may not know anything about you unless you list your accomplishments Provide A link to YouTube with a short clip (about 5 min) of competing in your sport, have DVD copies available if Coach’s requests it Broaden your search (outside of California) May be able to walk-on as a student-athlete and gain all the benefits of a scholarship player Be realistic, make sure that your goals are within reach Have a back up plan

Choosing the right College Not only about money, Important to find the right fit College life, majors, team, coaches, school location, reputation of school and team Make sure to get information in writing (no student is given a full ride for 4-5 years) Verbal commitments do not guarantee scholarship, must sign an Official National Letter of Intent (NLI)

19. “Student-Athlete” High School as well as College Athletes, are first and foremost, Students Academic success will give you the tools needed to become an effective “Student-Athlete” 2% of High School Student Athletes will receive an Athletic Scholarship-Both parents & student- Athletes need to have realistic expectations about scholarships and playing at the college level
