2. Background When traveling in unfamiliar places, smartphones can help us discover points of interest (POIs) around us – Restaurants – Coffee Shops – Gas Stations The phone’s internet connectivity conveniently allows the user to discover POIs

Problem It is often difficult to get a “full snapshot” of what is exactly located around the area Searching for these POIs directly can become cumbersome – The phone’s small screen size makes it awkward to navigate actual websites Other applications are geared towards specific types of POIs – GasBuddy, UrbanSpoon, etc.

4. Solution – Basic Functionality Create an application that discovers POIs based on current location. Aggregate various types of POIs and display them together on a map. Provide the user with options to add, modify and delete POIs. Take advantage of Google’s open-source Android platform to create the application. Take advantage of Droid’s OS capabilities, which allows applications to run in the background.
