14. 14 Division Facts Laboratory Receives ~ 2 million specimens per year People, animals, mosquitoes, food, water, and consumer products Test for infectious diseases, newborn screening, clinical chemistry, and environmental chemistry Immunization Program Distributes over 12 million doses of vaccine annually through the Texas Vaccines for Children Program (3,400 private and public sites) and offers uninsured adult vaccines through public clinics statewide. New vaccines for adolescents in the past three years have also made this age group a priority as well. HIV FY 2007 - ~29,000 persons were provided HIV medical and support services FY2007 - the HIV medication program provided 200,000 medications to more than 13,000 persons with HIV disease
