MICE Controls Progress 15 th March 2007 * Controls Infrastructure * Controls network * Target * Superconducting Solenoid * Magnet Power Supplies * Hydrogen system control

Controls Infrastructure + Network 15 th March 2007 * Linux PC Servers and consoles on order * Can be used either rack mounted or desktop * EPICS V3.14 * Planning network cabling needs within the MICE Hall and Local Control Room. Any special needs to Adrian Oates

Target 15 th March 2007 * Contributed to recent Target Design Review * Future need to consider full controls integration

15 th March 2007 Superconducting Solenoid * Power supply and control rack currently at DL * Evaluating suitability of existing PLC control system * PLC is obsolete and not supported by the manufacturer * Currently assessing the option to replace with a modern alternative

15 th March 2007 Magnet Power Supplies * Danfisik communication protocol has been evaluated and is straightforward to implement * One or more supplies are due to be delivered to DL shortly and can be used for controls testing and rack integration * Considering several hardware options: terminal server, Hytec blade, VME system * edm synoptic panel to be developed for user interface

15 th March 2007 Hydrogen System * Functional specification and signal list already defined * To be implemented in a PLC system * External controls integration (EPICS) also required
