Membership l Advisory Board Members are Appointed by the Governor l Appointed for 6 year terms

Role & Functions Review and evaluate state radiation policies and programs Make recommendations and furnish technical advice to state agencies Review proposed rules and guides of any state agency

Principal TRAB Issues: 2001 to Present l Advisory on Whole Body CT Self-Referrals l TCEQ LLW Facility License Review l Security of Radioactive Materials l Uranium Mining Byproduct Material l Compensation, Recruitment and Retention of Health Physicists l Oil Field NORM l Drinking Water NORM l Rules proposed by agencies

Duties of Agencies l A state agency shall: Consider the recommendations and advice of the advisory board; Provide the advisory board a written response to the recommendations or advice

Officers and Meetings l Advisory board elects from its members a chair, vice-chair and secretary l Board meets quarterly l Board may hold special meetings called by the advisory board chairman or by five advisory board members

TRAB Meetings l Open Meetings - Meetings held in public with notice posted in Texas Register; held in Austin at the Moreton Building, 1100 W. 49th St. l Meetings provide time for public to comment
