Data Mining Definition o “data processing using sophisticated data search capabilities and statistical algorithms to discover patterns and correlations in large preexisting databases; a way to discover new meaning in data”

Data Mining OK that was deep Basically it’s the process of looking at o Key metrics o Analyzing the information o Looking for more information based on the analysis Making decisions based on that to improve performance Assessing the impact of those decisions Bottom line… o Getting the information you need to perform your Auxiliary duties.

What are my resources Auxdata o Primary Auxiliary data input application. Has many canned reports. Access can be difficult. Auxinfo o Allows the creation of reports based on Auxdata. Access is easy. Auxofficer o Provides member information including qualifications.

AUXINFO What is it? o Business intelligence tool tied to AUXDATA o (COGNOS POWERPLAY) o Refreshed Weekly Where is it? o https://www.auxinfo.uscg.gov/ Why would I use it? o Unit, facility, and Member Activities, Status, etc You can’t break it
