Robotic’s Clube / MadRobô History and activities 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro
2
EBSSC – Our School EBSSC – Stands for Escola Básica e Secundária de Santa Cruz; It’s located at the South-East part of Madeira’s island; It’s the main “entrance” of Madeira; 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro
3
EBSSC – Our School 1054 students attend the school; There are in the school: 16 projects; 4 Clubs; These are all extra-curricular activities; 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro
4
Robotics Club In 2005 our school became the first team to ever participate in the national robotics competition; In that year was created the Informatics/Robotics Club; The Club was created to fill up an existent gap, the lack of an activity in Science and Technologie; 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro
5
Robotics Club And in 2006 we participated again in the national robotics competition; The Club had a steady number of students (72 since 2006); 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro
6
Robotics Club The Club has at it’s disposal: 3 Robotic Kits, Arduino Based; 1 Lego MindStorm; 1 Multi task Robotic Kit; 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro
7
Robotics Club 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro Students when entering the Club are guided according to their knowledges; Typically: Begin with Lego MindStorm for Robotics basics; Transition to Arduino based kits; Development of projects envisioned by students;
8
Robotics Club 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro Present projects being developed in the Club: Intuitive method for controlling RC helicopters; Robot for garbage transport;
9
Robotics Club 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro Present projects being developed in the Club (Cont.): Autonomous robot handling; PV Solar tracker;
10
Robotics for EBSSC … and not only 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro One question came up… But what if you like robots and your are not a student at EBSSC?
11
Robotics for EBSSC … and not only 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro With this in mind we created an activity called MadRobô;
12
Robotics for EBSSC … and not only 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro The activity started in 2008 with a presentation of robots; In 2009 anyone interested could participate and build their own robot;
13
Robotics for EBSSC … and not only 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro In 2010 MadRobô was invited to join the Semana da Ciência e Tecnologia (DRE); Last weekend was this year activity.
14
Robotics for EBSSC … and not only 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro It happens once a year; Were anyone interested in technology can participate; Basically: Three friends interested in technology; An adult as a responsible for the team; Off course the target are minors!
15
Robotics for EBSSC … and not only 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro Anyone means: Students form all schools from the region; Students from Universities; General public; The adult doesn’t need to be a teacher;
16
Robotics for EBSSC … and not only 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro Competitions of the event: Building / Creativity. Dance. Obstacles; All teams are registered from start in all these competitions;
17
Robotics for EBSSC … and not only 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro The MadRobô kit consists of : One Arduino board; Two servos; Battery support; Two touch sensors;
18
Robotics for EBSSC … and not only 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro Participants have to: Assemble the mechanical part; Connect the circuit board Program the robot; The kit is easy to build, is expandable and can be used in various robotics competitions nationally and internationally.
19
Robotics for EBSSC … and not only 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro There are still: Lectures; Exhibitions; Recreational activities; Presentation of some national and international competitions in robotics;
20
Robotics for EBSSC … and not only 10/10/2015Eduardo Ribeiro Questions? The End!
