Statutory Requirements Goals to guide the various modes of transportation: highways and trucking systems for persons with disabilities bicycles walking air transportation water transportation transit and railroads

Statutory Requirements Compare local goals and programs to state and regional transportation plans. Incorporate state, regional and other applicable transportation plans. Identify highways by function.

Highways Expansion of Wis 57 to a four-lane divided highway scheduled to be completed in 2008 WisDOT Park and Rides Lots: 2008 - lot near Brussels, approximately at the CTH D and CTH C intersection (~30 cars.) Fall 2006 – lot near Dyckesville (WIS 57 and CTH P interchange in Brown County.) Longer-term Issues: Possible four-lane expansion of WIS 42/57 to the Mid-Junction (Bayview Bridge to north of Sturgeon Bay where 42/57 split) Possible realignment of WIS 42 to WIS 57 south of the City of Sturgeon Bay.

Trucking February, 2006 - trucks with trailers longer than 48 feet now allowed to operate on Hwy 57 north of Sturgeon Bay.

Persons with Disabilities Door County Senior Resource Center: county owned mini bus and volunteer drivers to any person 55 years of age or older. Lakeland Chapter of the American Red Cross: 60 years of age or older and any individual with a disability. Door County Department of Social Services: transportation services for people with medical needs. Sunshine House: fleet of wheelchair equipped mini-buses. For-Profit: ParaTran and Northeast Wisconsin Transportation Service Inc. (medical transportation).

Employee Transportation Door County Job Center/Women’s Employment Project Transportation Options program: assistance with gas or taxi vouchers, drivers education, car repairs, and car loans.

Bicycling Door County Bicycle Transportation Capital Improvement Plan WIS DOT: five foot paved shoulders of existing WIS 57 from the south county line to CTH C as part of the WIS 57 Future extension plans for the Ahnapee State Trail from the Bayview Bridge to Michigan Street

Water Transportation Port of Sturgeon Bay Bayship Building Palmer Johnson Recreational Marinas: 21 recreational marinas throughout the county. Town of Liberty Grove to conduct feasibility study for a 6 lane boat launch facility in Gills Rock. U.S. Coast Guard Station
