Basic Facts Canada is located on the upper part of North America. The population of Canada is about 36 million people. The capital of Canada is Ottawa. The national languages are French and English. Canada has 9 provinces, 3 territories.

History Canada came in to existence 1867. Canada's first provinces were Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. There have been 22 prime ministers. Yukon was the most recent territory. Sir John A. MacDonald was our first prime minister.

Geography Canada is surrounded by 5 bodies of water Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Labrador Sea, Beaufort Sea and the Baffin Sea. Canada is 9,976,136 km squared. Major cities are Toronto,Montreal, Vancouver Edmonton,Calgary, Winnipeg, Halifax and Regina. Country Capital is, Ottawa. Major bodies of water are Lake Superior, Lake Michigan,Lake Huron,Lake Erie,Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River. Major mountains are the Rockies.

Food and Clothing Canada's food is much like the British. A true Canadian food is our beavertails. Canada’s food comes from all around the world. Canada also dresses like the British. I would call a parka canadian cloths.

Holidays Canada Day is on the 1 st July. Christmas is on the 25 th December. St.Patricks Day is on the 17 th of March. Valentines Day is on the 14 th of April. Victoria Day is on the 23 rd May. Family Day is on the 21 st February. Good Friday is on the 22 April.

Economy and Currency Canada has the ninth largest economy in the world. The currency of Canada is 1 Canadian dollar. It’s main industries are transportation equipment,chemicals,processed and unprocessed minerals,food products, wood and paper products,fish products, petroleum and natural gas. It exports 75.02% from the U.S. 3.37% from he UK. 3.09% from China. It imports motor vehicles and parts,industrial machinery,aircrafts, telecommunications equipment,electronics,chemicals,plastics, fertilizers, wood pulp,timber,crude petroleum,natural gas, electricity and aluminum.
