During the month of January and February we will be administering the Winter MAP assessment to all students. This assessment is given three times a year to measure student growth. Please ask your child about their MAP goal. If they meet their goal they will earn a bracelet. We will give a bracelet out for Reading and one for Math. This is the first year the 2nd-5th graders will not be taking the California Standardized Test in April with the exception to 5th grade. The 5th graders will take the CST in Science only. The 2nd graders will not take any test at all. The 3rd-5th graders will participate in a pilot of the new SMARTER Balance Assessment. This assessment is computer based and is similar to our MAP assessment. It will adjust to the students ability level. They will participate in the pilot program for both English Language Arts and Math. The testing window is April 7, 2014-May 16, 2014. There will be approximately 25 questions in each subject area and take approximately 3.5 hours to complete BOTH assessments (1.75 hours per assessment). Please visit hemetusd.k12.ca.us for more information on the Common Core and SMARTER Balance Assessment.
