Sitton Spelling Program Emphasis: Correct spelling in daily writing Two ways of Grading: A.Core Words (165) – 10 new words each week tested on a dictation test. Bonus words for enrichment. B. No Excuse Words: High Frequency words that are expected to be spelled correctly on every piece of writing in every subject. Random samples will be taken for a grade.

Math Everyday Math Emphasis on using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as they relate to problem solving Multiplication/Division timed tests will begin approx. November-December Hands on activities and games to reinforce concepts taught

Art, Music, P.E. These subjects will be taught weekly for the entire year by specialists in that field.

Homework Homework is sent home on a daily basis Monday through Thursday. If your child can’t complete homework due to scheduling, ALL I NEED IS A NOTE FROM YOU! Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 20 min. reading Math Home Link/Mad Minute Spelling Practice (does not need to be turned in) Song or Poem 3 times Tuesday 20 min reading Spelling Practice Math Home Link/Mad Minute Contract work – Contract due end of quarter

Assignment Books Character Counts Assignment book come home daily List of assignments and activities for the day Means of communication to and from school Please initial assignment book daily to indicate completion of homework

One Contract will be given each quarter Students work on it the whole quarter (about 8 weeks) Tuesday nights – work on Contract about 20 minutes Completed project at the end of the quarter Samples from past years are on the back table

Birthdays We will celebrate birthdays in our class. Each student will be treated special all day! Treats are OK if they are store bought with a label. We will enjoy treats during recess breaks.

Book Orders I place Scholastic orders once a month. You can write a check for your order or you can order online using a credit card. No cash please.

Behavior Management System Classroom Rules: 1.Follow directions the first time given. 2.Show respect: Use only kind words (No putdowns). 3.Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself 4.Listen and stay focused on the speaker. 5.Respect your property and the property of others.
